Personal Development Partners - Got Goals? Get a Partner!

Today is Aaron Potts’ birthday, and the very thoughtful Patricia from the Personal Development Partners’ discussion boards has suggested that all of us with blogs write him a birthday wish post. I’m happy to contribute.

I’ve only been a member at PDP since October 2007 (I’ve written about this great community here), but in that time I’ve become very familiar with Aaron’s work. He not only runs PDP, he also has websites and blogs at Today is That Day and Fitness Destinations. As I wrote recently, one of my compass directions for the coming year is to add a lot of value for readers of my site, and Aaron is a huge inspiration and great example to me in this process.

Aaron has made some tough decisions at PDP recently. Previously, free members at PDP received access to just about all of the functionality on the site. However, very few were participating in discussions - which is the whole point of having a community dedicated to personal development. Aaron made the decision that free membership just isn’t a good option for this community. The great news is that a Premium Membership only costs $20 for 6 months and it comes with access to an already large and growing list of electronic products that are worth many times that amount. The support from the community is even more valuable.

The second change that Aaron has made at PDP is to offer his eBook Energy Harmonics (which he normally sells for $22) as a product download AND start a coaching category on the site for developing the skills taught in the book. In short, he is GIVING AWAY unlimited coaching on one of his signature products for as long as you are a member of the site.

Bravo, Aaron. I really look forward to learning from your example and your materials in the coming year.

Blogging for Burma

September 25th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I received an invitation from Holger Nauheimer of the Change Management Blog to post the following message about Burma. As you may know, the military rulers of Burma (officially called Myanmar) are accused of multiple human rights violations. The most well known of these is the decades-long detention of Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi. I hope some of my fellow bloggers will join me in bringing attention to the plight of this nation.

In Burma (Myanmar), thousands of Buddhist monks are marching through the streets every day to protest against more than 40 years of dictatorship. They are joint by major parts of the population. In the past, any anti-government protests have been stopped by the army with fierce violence and the arrest of the protestors. So, far, the military has not intervened on these latest civil movement.

We want to tell to the Government of Myanmar: the community of bloggers - and therefore the world - is watching every step you take. Do not excert any violence on the peaceful protesters.

We want to tell to the monks and to the people of Myanmar: you are not alone. The time for change in Myanmar has come and the people of Myanmar have a right to enjoy the same economic growth than your neighbouring countries and the increase of democratic rights.

So, we ask all blogs to post this message. Feel free to translate this message into your language. If you are a blog reader, write a message to your favourite blogs and ask them to participate in this joint action. Please follow the news on BBC World or any other news channel.

We further ask you to report us that you have posted this message. Please go to

Thank you for you support.

Wow! The Personal Development Blogosphere is on FIRE!

September 17th, 2007 · 3 Comments

I am very excited to say that Never the Same River Twice has been included in what has to be the most comprehensive and helpful list of personal development bloggers currently in existence. The appropriately named Personal Development List has now grown to include over 400 blogs. Some of these are A-list bloggers that nearly everyone knows, but the majority have been previously unknown to me. I’m really looking forward to coming back to this list again and again when I’m in need of ideas.

As suggested, I’m going to add a couple of blogs to the list:

Stephen Shapiro, my favorite Goal-Free blogger.

Family Hack, the Davis family shares how they are living The 4-Hour Workweek lifestyle with 2 young ‘uns.

Others on the Personal Development List:

NSRT Featured in Personal Development Carnival

September 5th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I’m happy to say that my post Get Excited to Change Faster was featured in this week’s Personal Development Carnival which was graciously hosted at Personal Development for the Book Smart.

It’s an honor to be featured with so many of my favorite bloggers. Some of my favorite posts from this week’s carnival are:

The Top Ten Ways to Raise Your Mood at MoodRaiser.com.  Adam Kahn shares some good tips for making micro-level changes that will help you have a better day.

Do You Have an Abundant Mindset? at INTJ Personal Development.  INTJ challenges us all to take a look at our attitudes toward “enough” and “success.”

And the prize for the best post title goes to Help Me David Wann Kenobi; You’re My Only Hope at Millionaire Mommy Next Door. This is a guest post from Page Anderson-Torgrimson that describes her struggles with Affluenza for one of the book’s authors. I really identify with Page’s struggles to be green while dealing with all of the societal conditioning to want more, more, MORE!

I hope everyone gets a chance to browse through the carnival this week. Let me know your favorite posts.
