For suggestion #3, I'd like to add eat it if you love it AND it was homemade. Especially at work or social functions. I love nanimo bars (I think it's a Canadian thing) but will only indulge if they're homemade with love - grocery store nanimo bars no thanks. Same rule for brownies and cookies.

@Chris - great suggestion to be the DD every once in a while. I often do that on New Year's Eve and it works out great. I have fun and save a ton of $ - plus I feel great at New Year's dinner the next day!

@Grace - I'm actually thinking about doing a little detox diet in the New Year. Hope it works out for you.

Great idea, to put some money on it!

I am going on a liquid fast tomorrow to clear out all the junk. I am so GLAD that Day comes once a year.

And then resolve to exercise out in the clear air each day to keep my determination fresh.

Nice tips Maria. I'm particulary focusing on no. 5 at the moment. I have a personal target to get a six-pack (sad I know), I've been a student of fitness for a long time and my next experiment is with interval training (whereas with my triathlons I've been doing endurance stuff).

Also drinking the clear stuff! Offer to be the designated driver to some of those parties.
